Hank's focus
Remarkable heritage:
Hank has a specific interest in cultural historical projects regardless whether it concerns recent heritage such as Genie Park in Haarlemmermeer or ancient historic country estates such as Windesheim Estate near Zwolle, the garden and park construction for St. Hubertus Hunting Lodge or Lefortovo Park in Moscow. Recently Hank worked on a study into the future of Dutch post-war green heritage and, among others, renewal plans for the romantic Citadel Park in Ghent and various cultural historical private gardens such as the old Springer garden at the Heuvelrug in Utrecht, a garden by Pieter Buys surrounding a Rietveld villa in the Gooi area and Soestdijk estate. Hank is currently working on the Masterplan 2030 for Artis, the oldest zoo in The Netherlands, creating the spatial framework for the further spatial development and sustainability of the zoo.
Crowd pullers & landscaping:
Hank also likes to design special public spaces. In recent years he worked, among others, on the Maasvlakte 2 beach, the outside area of the National Military Museum in Soesterberg, the garden for the new Naturalis museum, the new RIVM building and the Hoge Veluwe National Park centre. Currently Hank is working on a public transport hub plan in the Port of Rotterdam and on the renewal of the visitors centre at National Park De Hoge Veluwe.
Integration of large infrastructure:
Another important focus of attention is at the interface between design and public infrastructure, such as highways. Hank has been working on the extension of the A15 for several years. He worked on the integration of the A12 VEG and on the reconstruction of the A1/A27. He designed the landscape plan and several development plans for Maasvlakte 2, worked on the landscape plan for the new sea lock at IJmuiden and the sea lock at Terneuzen, and designed the grounds of the new wastewater treatment plant (RWZI) in Hilversum. At the moment, he is working on the integration of the new A16 highway at Rotterdam.
