Jan Wilbers

Urban designer

Jan Wilbers is an urban planner (TU Delft, 2012) at H+N+S Landscape Architects. Before that he worked in several places in the Netherlands and abroad.

He supported curator Dirk Sijmons in the run-up to the 6th IABR - Urban by Nature on the 'urban metabolism' and the environmental challenge of urbanization (2013-2014).
He conducted research on Albania's 'metabolism' at the TU Delft, focusing on water, energy, food and recreation in collaboration with an international team of design agencies, the PBL (the Dutch Environmental Assessment Agency) and the AKPT (National Territorial Planning Agency of Albania) (2014-2015).
Jan was a designer for provincial consultant for spatial quality (PARK) Jandirk Hoekstra for the Province of North Holland and was thus involved in all kinds of assignments about landscape protection, large-scale agriculture, the energy transition, mobility and urbanization, and landscape and culture (history) in North Holland (2015-2016).
He previously worked at H+N+S on energy landscapes, including the 2050 research - An Energetic Odyssey (2015-2016); and has worked as a master planner and designer on the development and transformation of several large-scale resorts in Spain and Tenerife (2017-2019).

JAN'S ATTENTION FIELDS

Most of his work focuses on the regional scale; on climate adaptation, the energy transition, urbanization and mobility, and on other challenges and changes that have a major and lasting impact on the landscape. These are often projects in which multiple tasks are closely linked and where there are different interests. By means of workshops, research and the drawing up of a spatial story, supported solutions and perspectives are found that contribute as much as possible to the quality and future usefulness of the landscape.
