The Boezem in the Spotlight is a filmed portrait of a previously underexposed part of the water system of the Lower Netherlands. The story of the boezem is told on the basis of conversations with Water Board employees and designers. In seven episodes, a number of issues surrounding the boezem system are reviewed - such as the fragility, the unintended beauty and the vastness of it - and the urgency of making the boezem future-proof in the light of climate change.

The impassioned stories of the boezem 'connoisseurs' reveal the boezem as a phenomenon to be cherished and also show the great importance of the boezem as a water management condition for living and working in the lower part of the Netherlands. The film is a plea to put the boezem in the limelight and is an appeal to all parties involved to take an integrated approach to the tasks that play a role in and around the boezem.

The Boezem in the Spotlight is an initiative of H+N+S Landscape Architects and was made possible by a subsidy from the EFL Foundation. The English subtitles were made possible by Waterschap Amstel, Gooi en Vecht.
