Landscape Architect

Heleen Van Boxelaere

Background

Heleen Van Boxelaere studied garden and landscape architecture at Hogeschool Gent between 2008 and 2011. After completing the 3-year practical training, her interest in more in-depth knowledge and the larger scale brought her to the Netherlands where she followed the master's program in landscape architecture at Wageningen UR. Since November 2016 she has been working as a landscape architect at H+N+S Landscape Architects and in the meantime she has also successfully completed the legal professional experience period as a landscape architect.

Focus

Heleen works with great enthusiasm on various projects in the Netherlands and Belgium. Because of her practical training as a landscape architect and the theoretical background from the master's program, Heleen feels particularly attracted by the interaction between conceptual ideas and their practical realization. She also gets energy from switching between complex long-term issues and practically feasible design assignments.

Themes in its playing field include urbanisation, mobility, flood risk management and climate adaptation, whereby the underlying (landscape) context always forms the starting point for meaningful and motivated intervention. In this way she brings together context, meaning, design and manufacturability in her designs.
